Big Red was ready to go early but I took my time and we hit the road about 8.
the "Pit Crew" had given red, toys, pillow and blanket to make him comfortable over night
We saddled up and headed on up US17, soon to come to a screaming halt at a license checkpoint. There were 5 highway patrol and about 3 drivers who had "left their licenses at home". The officers marveled that people were dumb enough to ride scooters across America but thought it should be a great adventure.

We bid the officers farewell and headed on up the road to Savannah. A gas stop and a tourist stop led to some nice visits all centered around Big Red and the Cannonball. We rolled into the Thunderbird Inn in Savannah at high-noon. I had actually stayed in this hotel back in 1969 in flight school. Looks just like I remember it. The "Pit Crew" rolled in a few hours later.
This is in every room. Only ya'll southern people will get it.
other riders rolled in all afternoon
