Everyone was up way before the crack of dawn.
The Pit Crew was not very enthusiastic about it. The start of the Cannonball was from the River St. next to water so there was a long line of scooters and vehicles snaking their way through the dark to the start point.
The starters meeting consisted of "don't crash, drive nice in the small towns, don't crash" and we were off. You start when you want and everyone was just standing around so I loaded up and took off. There was a little short cut that they discouraged you from taking, but I did and wound up leading the pack out of town. However, it was not long before a few people passed me. The day went from light rain to nice blue skies.
I rolled into Troy about 12:00 central time completing a very respectable ride. I think I was number 6 into the hotel.
A little champagne toast for Big Red
And one for me
Don't crash
"Don't crash" Mr Happy went down right out of the start. Got caught in a railroad track and the cobble stone street. Luckily Mr. Happy was ok.
The Richland pit crew....
....they brought fuel and monkey butt powder.
That was too much excitement. I need to rest a minute
